Taking the lane

What should you do if the bicycle lane on the road is covered in ice/slush and slime?

Take the lane. The cars can slow down and then drive over the tram tracks to pass.

But be sure to wear a cute hat on your custom painted omafiets!

  1. What's your point? The white line is interrupted so it's legal for both cars and bicycles to cross it when necessary. And anyway, there's a Dutch saying "nood breekt wetten" (necessity knows no law, says my dictionary). Better safe than sorry.

  2. Frits, you are my point! You take it for granted that this is normal/civil/practical behavior. And it is here, and I love it.

    2. True. I must confess that I often sit wondering when I read blogs like yours and Lovely Bicycle's. Seems I don't know my blessings, let alone count them.
