Yes, that's something I like to see too. Often I think they are bought as a pair as "last bicycles" by retired couples... who then go on to wear their bikes out together and eventually have to buy new ones again.

A friend of mine comes from a family of bicycle shop owners, and he told me it's common for elderly women to buy electrically assisted bicycles, followed a week or two later by their husband who can't keep up and must have one too.
