Forsythia - Easily Confused

I love forsythia... the yellow flowers usually presage the close arrival of spring time.
Unfortunately, it's still January so these bushes are simply confused.

(Or, it turns out, they are not forsynthia and I am confused)

We had a few weeks of above freezing weather but I doubt it's going to be spring anytime soon!

Update: These plants are winter jasmine... thank you, Nico!
Winterjasmine is similar to Forsythia but blooms earlier.

  1. Could this be Jasminum? Then the time for the flowers would be right.

  2. Do you think so? I've never seen jasminum before... I'll get a close-up.

  3. Maybe the flowers are "optimistic", not "confused". They could just be keeping their fingers...er..uh...stems crossed hoping for better weather with each sunrise.

  4. Nico is probably right; look here:

(in Dutch but understandable - haven't found the English version yet)
